Russia launched a massive wave of drone attacks and airstrikes across Ukraine overnight into Sunday, killing at least four people and wounding several others, Ukrainian officials said.
Three people were killed and four injured in airstrikes on Kostyantynivka in the Donetsk region, according to the regional prosecutor's office. Another person died and a 14-year-old girl was wounded in a drone attack on Pavlohrad in the Dnipropetrovsk region, which was targeted for the third straight night, local Governor Serhii Lysak said.
The latest attacks came just hours after Russia claimed to have regained full control over areas of the Kursk region seized by Ukraine last August. However, Ukrainian officials said fighting there was still ongoing.
Meanwhile, US President Donald Trump cast new doubt over Russian President Vladimir Putin's willingness to end the war. On Saturday, Trump said he doubted a peace deal could be reached soon, despite having said just a day earlier that Ukraine and Russia were "very close to a deal." Trump criticised recent Russian missile strikes on civilian areas and hinted at further sanctions against Moscow after briefly meeting Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy at Pope Francis' funeral at the Vatican.
Ukraine's air force reported that Russia fired 149 drones and decoys overnight, with 57 intercepted and another 67 jammed
