A person was stabbed outside a home in Hollywood Hills linked to U2 frontman Bono on Thursday, according to reports.
Police responded to the sprawling property around 1.20 pm after receiving a call about a possible stabbing victim on the 7800 block of Granito Drive, near a property the Irish-born singer has recently invested in, TMZ reported.
The victim was transported to a local hospital in stable condition, the Los Angeles Police Department (LAPD) said. The suspect was arrested on charges of assault with a deadly weapon, the LAPD confirmed.
An aerial view showed police cars outside the upscale residence, which features a backyard pool. Bono, whose legal name is Paul Hewson , owns at least two other homes in Dublin and Killiney, Ireland. He was rumoured to have invested in a $7 million avant-garde mansion just above the Sunset Strip in 2024, according to The Hollywood Reporter.
The Sunset Strip and Hollywood Hills are often considered the same neighbourhood due to their close proximity and similar affluence. The Hollywood Hills property linked to Bono is currently under construction. The multi-Grammy award winner was out of the country when the alleged stabbing occurred, TMZ reported.
Sources told the outlet that Bono is just one of several investors involved in the project and that they plan to put it on the market, though it is not currently listed publicly.
Bono, 65, has been enjoying a sum-odd $700 million net worth and finding new passion projects outside of music. While the star typically maintains a low profile, he occasionally reappears to comment on topics ranging from debates over Coldplay’s genre to American politics.
Bono gained greater prominence under the Biden Administration, having been invited to events like the State of the Union for his relentless work combating HIV/AIDS and poverty. He was awarded the Presidential Medal of Freedom by Biden shortly before he left office.
