KOLKATA/JANGIPUR: Two brothers from Bengal's Murshidabad were arrested Tuesday on charges of hacking to death a father and son in Jafrabad, adjoining their native Digra village, on April 12 after dissent over the new waqf law descended into mob violence.
Dildar Nadab was arrested from a hideout close to Bangladesh under Suti police station, suggesting he might have planned to flee across the border. Kalu Nadab, alias Asabul, named in the FIR along with five others, was picked up from Birbhum's Murarai, report Dwaipayan Ghosh & Sukumar Mahato.
The absconding suspects - Yusuf Sheikh, Akbar Sheikh, Hazrat Ali, Nurul Sheikh and Ansar Ali - are all locals. Investigators are verifying if the arrested brothers had personal enmity with the victims - Hargobindo Das and his son Chandan.
