Mumbai: BJP politician Kirit Somaiya 's personal assistant submitted a letter to the police on Saturday regarding a person who came to meet the politician and had a licensed pistol with him.
The visitor left his licensed weapon outside before meeting Somaiya. The letter requested the police to inquire about the person. The man was questioned, and nothing suspicious was found, said the police.
On Saturday afternoon, a person from Bhiwandi came to meet Somaiya. He had a licensed pistol with him and informed the police personnel deployed for Somaiya's security about it. The police personnel informed Somaiya's guards. The person left his weapon outside Somaiya's office and went to meet him. In the evening, Somaiya's PA submitted a letter to the police, asking them to look into the matter.
The police called the person, who said he came to meet Somaiya for some help. "He informed the police about his licensed weapon as well. A licence for the weapon was issued to him in 2023. He was questioned, and nothing suspicious was found," said a police officer.
