Lucknow: Under the Pradhan Mantri Surya Ghar Yojana , the UP govt has set a target of installing eight lakh solar rooftop plants across the state by Mar 2027.
The objective for the current financial year is the installation of 2.65 lakh units, with a monthly target of 22,000 installations, averaging approximately 300 installations per district. Targets have been determined at the district, DISCOM, municipal corporation and municipality levels to ensure systematic execution.
"Monitoring of the scheme is being carried out via integration with the Chief Minister's Dashboard, facilitating real-time tracking of progress. The Uttar Pradesh New and Renewable Energy Development Agency ( UPNEDA ) is leading the scheme's implementation with the mission to extend solar energy to every household," said the official source.
The source said, "Of the 10.73 lakh applications received on the portal up to Mar 2025, the listing of vendors is underway and the installation process is advancing quickly. Over one lakh rooftop solar systems have so far been installed in Uttar Pradesh. Approximately 11,000 installations are being completed each month, with a daily average exceeding 500."
As of April 2025, more than 2,500 vendors had been empanelled and around 1,800 vendors had received formal training to assist in the scheme's rollout. Access to loans and credit guarantee schemes through banks is also being provided to vendors to strengthen their financial capacity.
