Donald Trump said he might still attend potential Russia-Ukraine peace talks in Istanbul on May 16 if progress is made toward a deal. The US President told journalists in Qatar that he believes there is a chance to end the war. When asked about Russian President Vladimir Putin's absence, Mr Trump said: "Why would he go if I'm not going?"

Ukrainian partisan group Atesh claims to have sabotaged a Russian railway relay cabinet near Smolensk to disrupt military supply lines. The attack, reportedly captured on video, targeted a route used to deliver arms and equipment to Russian forces near Ukraine's northeastern border. Kyiv has warned that Moscow is preparing for a new offensive in the Sumy and Kharkiv regions.
