Play continues in China, with the WTA 1000 in Wuhan now underway. Emma Raducanu was forced to retire while 6-1 4-1 down to Ann Li in her opening match, struggling in the heat and calling the doctors before throwing in the towel.
On the ATP side, the Shanghai Masters is in full swing. Novak Djokovic is the highest-ranked player left in the draw after some shock losses and withdrawals, including Jannik Sinner's concerning retirement. The defending champion could barely walk as he called it quits in the third set of his third-round match against Tallon Griekspoor on Sunday. And Djokovic sparked major concern when he collapsed on the court and threw up during his three-set victory over Jaume Munar on Tuesday.
The hot and humid conditions have wreaked havoc on both tournaments - Sinner is just one of seven men to have retired in Shanghai, with many other players having their vitals checked mid-match and addressing the "brutal" weather. Meanwhile, play was suspended in Wuhan on Monday due to extreme heat.
