Man Utd told to withdraw from £40m deal that is edging closer to completion

Manchester United have been cautioned against the potential departure of Rasmus Hojlund, especially after whispers emerged that he's on the market following Benjamin Sesko's arrival at Old Trafford.

The Red Devils, who were lacklustre in their goal-scoring efforts last season, have invested heavily to revamp their frontline during the summer window, securing Matheus Cunha, Bryan Mbeumo, and Sesko, with the latter finalising a whopping £73.7million move from RB Leipzig recently.

Sesko, aged 22, is tipped to lead United's offensive line as both Hojlund and Joshua Zirkzee struggled to find the net consistently in the previous campaign.

With AC Milan showing interest, Hojlund has been given the nod to seek opportunities elsewhere to guarantee regular playtime this season.

However, Mikael Silvestre, a former stalwart for the Red Devils from 1999 to 2008, insists that United should hold onto Hojlund at all costs, despite rumours that Milan might match United's £40m asking price for the striker, including a £6m loan fee and an option to make the deal permanent next summer.

"Marcus Rashford has gone and there are not a lot of strikers around, Joshua Zirkzee is a different type of striker that doesn't make those runs in behind the defence," Silvestre conveyed to Hajper.

"He is another type of player for certain games, certain opposition. But no, you need competition, need quality, so I wouldn't rush into sending Rasmus Hojlund out on loan if Sesko signs. Absolutely not."

Hojlund managed to net 10 goals across all competitions last season for United, with a mere four in the Premier League. In stark contrast, Sesko bagged an impressive 21 goals for Leipzig and has been on the radar for a Premier League transfer since the previous season ended.

Arsenal, having kept tabs on the Slovenian ace for some time, opted instead to chase Viktor Gyokeres, leaving the path clear for United. Silvestre believes that Sesko would be an ideal fit for Ruben Amorim's favoured 3-4-3 formation.

"Benjamin Sesko is an upcoming talent and he's got certain qualities that could fit into Ruben Amorim's style of play," the ex-United star remarked.

"He's got presence, height, he's good with his back against the defenders. He's got the athleticism to respond to the physicality of the Premier League. He's ticking a lot of boxes for sure."
