The M6 in Warwickshire was closed northbound on Thursday afternoon between J3A (Coleshill) and J4 (M42) due to a lorry fire, National Highways said. Emergency services and National Highways traffic officers rushed to the area to assist drivers and help with traffic management.
A diversion was put in place, and motorists were warned just after 4.30pm that they were facing "severe 90-minute delays". After the incident, which happened at about 3pm, the stretch of the M6 remained closed for hours, with traffic monitor Inrix still signalling a closure after 8pm.
