Gladiators star Matt Morsia has issued a health update after sustaining a horrific injury during filming for the BBC programme. The Youtuber, 39, shared a snap from his hospital bed, explaining how he tore his distal bicep tendon "off the bone" while shooting the upcoming series, which is set to air in January 2026. Despite undergoing successful surgery, Matt revealed he lost around 15kg in weight after experiencing "intense post-op sickness".
Matt, better known as Legend to fans of Gladiators, admitted the last few weeks have been the worst of his life, but assured his followers he is now recovering. Taking to Instagram, he penned: "A few weeks ago I tore my distal bicep tendon off the bone whilst filming Gladiators. Surgery went really well and I'm gonna be back in no time because I'm a genetic freak, but I'll be honest & say the last three weeks have easily been the worst of my life.

"I had intense post-operative sickness, didn't eat for 12 days, and lost around 15kg in bodyweight. You can watch my YouTube video for more detail, but for now I'm off to eat some pizza and do some 1kg bicep curls."
The BBC star signed off the post by expressing his gratitude to his wife, Sarah, who has remained by his side throughout the harrowing ordeal. The bodybuilder said: "Absolute hero & wouldn't have made it through without you."
But Legend isn't the only gladiator who has been through this as his co-stars, Diamond, Bionic and Athena, have all suffered injuries since filming kicked off at Utilita Arena in Sheffield last month.
Livi Sheldon, known as Diamond, ruptured her ACL and MCL during filming.
The personal trainer issued an update online, telling her followers: "Hey Tribe I've got a life update - and unfortunately, it's not the news I was hoping to share. While filming Gladiators, I suffered a full ACL AND MCL rupture. One moment I was in action, the next I was facing surgery."

She continued: "It's never easy hitting pause on something you love, but this isn't the end of my journey - it's just a detour. I've been through tough battles before, and every time I've come back stronger and this time is no different.
"I'm going to need all the support I can get, and I'll be sharing this journey with you every step of the way. If my experience can help even one person facing their own challenges, it'll make this journey even more meaningful.
"Now, after having my surgery, I'm ready to attack this rehab with everything I've got & more because being unbreakable is more than strength or how powerful you are - it's about how you rise after you fall.
"And every step I take now is building the comeback that will define me. It's never about the setback - it's always about the comeback."
Meanwhile Matty Campbell, aka Bionic, dislocated his shoulder and Athena (Karenjeet Kaur Bains) has injured her knee.
