Sanjay Dutt, known for his bold image both on and off-screen, once got caught in a major misunderstanding that led him to storm into Neetu Kapoor's house, furious over a rumoured affair between his then-girlfriend Tina Munim and actor Rishi Kapoor.
This incident dates back to the early 1980s when Sanjay was shooting for his debut film Rocky and Rishi was working with Tina in Karz. Their on-screen chemistry sparked rumours of a real-life romance—rumours that didn’t sit well with Sanjay, who was reportedly dating Tina at the time.
According to Rishi Kapoor’s biography Khullam Khulla, Sanjay, driven by jealousy and confusion, reached Neetu’s Pali Hill apartment, assuming she would have answers—or even confrontations. Ironically, he went there intending to fight with actor Gulshan Grover, who he thought was somehow involved.
But Neetu Kapoor defused the situation with calm and grace. She explained that Tina and Rishi were just co-stars and friends, and advised Sanjay to learn to trust his people in the film industry. Only then did Sanjay calm down.
This long-forgotten incident is now making headlines again, shedding light on the young, emotional side of the man we now know as Sanju Baba—and the unlikely bond he went on to share with Ranbir Kapoor, who later portrayed him in the blockbuster biopic Sanju.
