India will not compromise on the interests of farmers... PM Modi replied to Trump's tariff bomb

PM Modi said that India will never compromise with the interests of its farmers. The Prime Minister said that I know that I will have to pay a huge price personally but India is ready for it.

While addressing the MS Swaminathan Centenary International Conference in the country's capital Delhi, the PM replied to US President Trump in gestures. PM Modi said that the interest of farmers is our top priority for India. PM Modi said that India will never compromise against the interests of its farmers. The Prime Minister said that I know that I will have to pay a huge price personally but India is ready for this.

While talking about Prof. M.S. Swaminathan, the Prime Minister said that there are some personalities whose contribution is not limited to any one period or any one region. Prof. M.S. Swaminathan was one such great scientist, a son of Mother India. Prime Minister Narendra Modi said that I consider it my good fortune that our government had the privilege of honouring Dr. Swaminathan with Bharat Ratna.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi said that my association with Professor Swaminathan was many years old. Many people know the earlier conditions of Gujarat. Earlier, there was a lot of crisis on agriculture due to drought and cyclones, the desert of Kutch were increasing. When I was the Chief Minister, we started working on the Soil Health Card Scheme. Professor Swaminathan showed a lot of interest in it, he gave us suggestions and guided us wholeheartedly. Due to his contribution, this initiative also got tremendous success.

PM Modi said that Dr. Swaminathan started a campaign to make India self-sufficient in food grains. But his identity went beyond the Green Revolution. He continuously made farmers aware of the increasing use of chemicals in agriculture and the dangers of mono-culture farming.

Efforts are being made to increase confidence among farmers

We are constantly working on the goals of increasing the income of farmers, reducing expenditure on farming, and creating new sources of income. Our government has considered the strength of farmers as the basis of the country's progress. Therefore, the policies made in the past years were not just for help, but also an effort to increase the confidence of farmers.
