Simon Cowellmissed the first two days of Britain’s Got Talent auditions this week after sustaining a head injury, prompting a temporary change in the judging panel.
The veteran TV producer and talent show judge, 65, suffered a bump to the head that caused severe pain and a migraine, forcing Thursday’s auditions to be cancelled.
On Friday, auditions went ahead without him, with Stacey Solomon, who Cowell famously discovered on The X Factor, stepping in as a guest judge. Cowell returned to the panel on Saturday at Birmingham’s Hippodrome, arriving with a noticeable red mark on his forehead.

A source familiar with the situation told The Sun: "Simon had a terrible headache and migraine caused by an accidental bump on the head. He’s fighting fit now though and was revelling being in Birmingham and back in his judge seat."
The music mogul shared a short Instagram video from inside the theatre, addressing fans directly confirming that he 'is alive'
"It’s Simon, I’m alive and I’m in Birmingham, I just want to say thank you for all your get well messages," he said, briefly showing the graze on his forehead before smiling at the camera. The Britain's Got Talent head judge did not disclose how or when the accident occurred.
The minor incident is the latest in a series of injuries that Cowell has sustained over the years. In 2020, he broke his back after falling off an electric bike at his Los Angeles home - an accident that required surgery and months of recovery.
Cowell, who is engaged to Lauren Silverman and father to 11-year-old Eric, described the injury as a harsh reminder of his vulnerability at the time.
In 2017, he also suffered a serious head injury after falling down the stairs at his London residence. At the time, he said: "Sometimes we get a reminder that we’re not invincible and this was certainly mine. It was a huge shock.
"They think I fainted because I had low blood pressure and so I have got to really take good care of myself to sort that out. After all I am a dad and have more responsibility than ever," he told his fans at the time.
The music mogul has previously discussed his susceptibility to migraines and explained that he often wears red-tinted glasses to help counter the effects of studio and stage lighting.
Despite the recent head injury, producers expect Cowell to be fully recovered and ready for the next round of auditions in Blackpool next week.
His temporary absence marks one of the rare times the long-time Britain’s Got Talent judge has been forced to step back from the show due to health issues.
In the meantime, his Britain's Got Talent co-star Amanda Holden is reportedly stepping up to head judge, while former X Factor star Stacey Solomon is making her debut on the judging panel, calling it a 'dream come true'.
