Elizabeth Hurley reveals her verdict on Maya Jama wearing her iconic Versace pin dress

Elizabeth Hurley has revealed how she feels about Maya Jama rocking a pin dress similar to the one she wore 30 years ago. Love Island host Maya wowed fans when she appeared at the MTV Europe Music Awards last November wearing a form-fitting black dress held together with gold pins.

It was also the same night she met her now boyfriend, Ruben Dias. The 30-year-old star went on to make things official with the Manchester City star, 28, during a sun-soaked trip to the Amalfi Coast just days before her return to ITV2 for the new series of the dating show on June 9.

However, 31 years ago, Bedazzled actress Elizabeth rocked a £3,000 Versace dress held together with pins for the premiere of Four Weddings and a Funeral.

Learning of the connection between her and Maya, Liz, 60, recently said to The Sun: "I mean, to me, it’s really odd, but it’s actually kind of fabulous.

"Over the years, people have said to me, it’s the dress’s 20th birthday, or it’s the dress’s 25th, and I’m like, this is insane.” Maya and Ruben are believed to have first met at the European Music Awards (EMAs) in Manchester in November 2024, where she wore the Liz Hurley-inspired dress.

After the event, they followed each other on Instagram. By the end of the year, the pair were reportedly spotted ringing in New Year ’s Eve together.

Things between them only escalated from there, as Maya was seen attending one of Ruben’s football matches in Portugal in March 2025. A month later, the pair were photographed kissing and cuddling at KSI’s Baller League football event at London’s Copper Box Arena - and it was only just getting started.

According to reports, the relationship has become more serious in recent weeks. Maya is said to have introduced Ruben to her mum, Bernadette, and has been making an effort to learn her partner's native language by taking Portuguese lessons.

In an interview with the Evening Standard in November, which is about the time she met Ruben, Maya revealed what she was currently looking for in a relationship.

She shared: "‘I am so happy right now but the next person I meet I want to marry and have kids with, so obviously I’m feeling fussy.

"I’ve created such a nice life for myself alone and I don’t want anyone who’s not going to add to that. I’m in this lovely bubble and I don’t want you unless you make me happy. If you’re not, I kind of don’t need you."
