Ipswich fan Ed Sheeran has set the record straight after someone on TikTok hammered the Tractor Boys - calling them "tinpot" - for including the music icon among their shirt numbers for the upcoming season.
Sheeran is an avid fan of the Suffolk club and a regular at Portman Road. He has a minority 1.4 percent stake in the club and previously sponsored their kits. Four years ago, the club offered him the No.17 shirt and he's had his name among the club's players in recent years, with the exception of last year.
The music star has donned an Ipswich shirt with his number at concerts in the past and, following their return to the Championship, was included in the team's shirt number release that went out recently.
That decision has not pleased everyone with one account on TikTok taking aim at Ipswich's decision to include Sheeran among their first-team stars - only for the minority owner to hit back.
In a video posted on TikTok which has had over 700,000 views, Davoooo said: "This is genuinely so embarrassing and so tinpot from Ipswich Town right here."

He also went on to say: "The fact that this person even wants a number is so entitled it's unbelievable and the fact that Ipswich are giving him a number just shows how much of a small club they are and how tinpot they really are because what are they doing here?"
Sheeran didn't take long to reply on social media as he said: "I bet you're fun at parties bruvva. I didn't ask for it btw they offered back in 2021 and it's been this since. The shirts sell a fair bit so brings in profit to the club. It's really not that deep."
The 34-year-old has previously partied with the club's players after securing promotion and his name is alongside current stars like Omari Hutchinson, who Ipswich are battling to keep hold of. The highly-rated winger has courted Premier League attention from Brentford and Nottingham Forest.
Ipswich begin their Championship season underway on Friday night when they face Birmingham at St Andrew's. Kieran McKenna remains in charge and the Tractor Boys are among the pre-season favourites to gain promotion with the bulk of their squad doing so two years ago.
