After a long wait, BTS' Jin has returned, and this time, he's not just singing; he's stepping into the world of acting. On May 16, Jin released the much-awaited music video for "Don’t Say You Love Me", a hauntingly beautiful ballad that explores the pain of unresolved love. But beyond the visuals and vocals, fans were treated to a cinematic performance from Jin himself, alongside acclaimed South Korean actress Shin Se Kyung.
Jin’s honest take on his acting in new song
Though the final music video shows a moving and deeply emotional story, Jin admitted the process was far from easy. Opening up in a recent interview with Single List Korea, the BTS star got candid about feeling the pressure of acting for the first time, especially next to a seasoned performer like Shin Se Kyung.
“It was my first time acting with an actor, so I was very awkward and clumsy. I was so nervous that things didn’t go as well as I had imagined. Still, I was really grateful to Shin Se-kyung for her passionate performance. If you look closely, you might find me acting awkward," the singer expressed.
About 'Don’t Say You Love Me' song and music video
Don’t Say You Love Me is the lead track of Jin's latest second mini album, Echo. This marks his first release in six months since the release of his debut solo album, Happy, in November 2024.
Musically, the song leans into a soft pop ballad vibe, layered with Jin's signature soothing vocals. It's about love that once felt full but now lingers only as a memory you’re not sure you want to hold on to.
And what truly hooked the audience was the music video that felt like a short film. It captures the raw tension of an unexpected reunion with a past love, with Jin and Shin Se Kyung portraying a once-intimate connection that now feels fragile and unresolved. The chemistry is subtle but intense, bringing a soft pain to every scene.
With this release, Jin isn't just giving us a song; he's opening a new chapter. Whether it's acting or music, he's showing a deeper, more vulnerable side of himself. And if this is just the beginning, fans are more than ready for what's next.
