As elections in Bihar are due to this year, Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Friday launched and laid the foundation stone of development projects worth over ₹13,000 crore during his four-hour tour of the election-bound state, covering Gayaji, Patna and Begusarai districts.

As part of the “Grih Pravesh” ceremony, symbolic keys were handed over to beneficiaries of the PMAY schemes, 12,000 under PMAY-Gramin and 4,260 under PMAY-Urban. "16,000 pucca houses given in Bihar's Magadh region today, we are committed to provide such dwellings to every poor family in country," PM Modi said while addressing a public rally.

The Prime Minister also launched a sharp attack on the Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD). He said, “Remember the condition here during the rule of lantern (RJD). This region was in the clutches of red terror. Cities like Gaya Ji were in darkness during the rule of 'lantern' (RJD)... They had pushed the entire state into darkness. There was no education or employment. So many generations were forced to migrate. RJD considers the people of Bihar only as their vote bank. They want nothing to do with their life, sorrows, or respect.”

At Gayaji, the Prime Minister inaugurated a 660 MW power project in Buxar, built at a cost of ₹6,880 crore, and addressed a public rally.

He also inaugurated the 1.86-km-long six-lane Aunta-Simaria bridge on the Ganga River, constructed at a cost of over ₹1,870 crore. The bridge will provide direct connectivity between Mokama in Patna and Begusarai.

In addition, Modi opened the four-lane Bakhtiyarpur-Mokama section of NH-31, built at a cost of about ₹1,900 crore, aimed at easing congestion and cutting travel time.
